What This Means
Slashing, mulching, complete removal and preparation for new plantings.
We maintain working orchards and vineyards with inter-row slashing, headland and fence line clearing, and mulching of prunings, scrub and regrowth.
When old plantings need to go, we can remove an entire orchard or vineyard — not just cut between the rows. Trees, vines, stumps, roots and existing row infrastructure are assessed and included in the agreed removal scope.
For new vines or orchards, we clear vegetation and mulch unwanted growth, with stump and root work included where needed and suitable. This is land preparation for planting, not general earthworks or grading.
We supply the right machinery for the job, matched to row widths, access and the work required. Maintenance visits are timed around your operation, harvest and frost.
The Challenge
Precision Work Around Valuable Stock.
Orchards and vineyards are the most unforgiving ground we work. Everything of value sits exactly where the machine has to travel.
- 01
Narrow Row Spacings
Vines, trunks and irrigation sit centimetres from the machine's path. Equipment is sized to the row spacing, with turning confined to headlands.
- 02
Trellis and Irrigation Infrastructure
A single careless pass breaks posts and drippers. Infrastructure locations are confirmed with you before cutting, and the machine keeps to what is agreed.
- 03
Complete Removal of Old Plantings
Removing an orchard or vineyard means stumps and roots, not just tops. Removal is planned so the ground can genuinely be replanted.
- 04
New Planting Preparation
Replanting preparation must leave the ground clean and workable without becoming earthworks. Requirements are agreed on site, not assumed.
Solutions
What we can do for you.
We supply the right machinery for the job. You tell us what the land needs, we work out the method.
Inter-Row Slashing
Grass between rows cut to suit the season.
Headlands
Row ends and turning areas kept clear.
Fence Lines
Perimeter lines cut back and kept open.
Complete Orchard & Vineyard Removal
Whole old orchards and vineyards removed for replanting or a change of use, with trees, vines and row infrastructure included in the agreed scope.
Prunings Mulching
Prunings and cleared woody material mulched on-site where suitable.
Scrub & Regrowth Mulching
Unwanted scrub, saplings and woody regrowth mulched around rows and across unused ground.
Stump & Root Removal
Stumps and roots from old plantings dealt with where needed and suitable, to the agreed replanting scope.
New Orchard & Vineyard Site Preparation
Vegetation cleared and unwanted growth mulched ahead of new vines or orchard plantings; no general earthworks or grading.
Seasonal Maintenance
Repeat slashing and mulching visits planned around the operation, harvest and frost.
Whole-Property Clearing & Maintenance
Slashing, mulching, old planting removal and new planting preparation across entire orchards and vineyards.
Machinery
Choosing the right machinery for the job.
Machinery selection is based on the vegetation, site access and the finish agreed with you.
Our experienced operators use machinery and attachments suited to the work. We assess the site and confirm the equipment and method before work begins.
Tractors matched to row widths
Inter-row slashers
Tracked skid steers with mulching heads
Stump grinding and suitable root removal attachments
Before You Decide
Work around the season.
Rows, irrigation and timing are checked first.
Arrange a site visit →- 01Row widths, trellis, posts and irrigation are checked before any cut.
- 02Work is timed around spraying, harvest and frost risk.
- 03Wet ground in the rows is left until it can carry a machine.
- 04Complete removal is scoped to include the agreed trees, vines, stumps, roots, trellis and irrigation; what stays is marked first.
- 05New planting preparation is matched to the planting plan; any required clearing approvals are confirmed before work starts.
Common Questions
Orchard & Vineyard Maintenance, asked and answered.
Who disconnects trellis wire, irrigation and power before removal?
Responsibility for disconnection, recovery and disposal is agreed in writing before removal. Trellis wire and interfering infrastructure must be separated from vegetation before mulching. Power and other services must be isolated or verified by the appropriate qualified person; machinery must not process unidentified wire or services.
Can mulched planting material be reused before replanting?
Only where it suits the crop health requirements and planting plan. Diseased material and weed-bearing fragments may need separate handling or disposal. Obtain agronomic or biosecurity advice before spreading material from affected plantings; mulching does not guarantee disease control or land ready for immediate planting.
Can you slash between vineyard rows?
Yes, where the row width and ground suit. We check rows, trellis and irrigation on the site visit.
Can you remove an entire old orchard or vineyard?
Yes. We can clear whole orchards or vineyards for replanting or a different use. Trees, vines, stumps, roots, trellis and irrigation are assessed on-site, with removal and material handling agreed in the written scope.
Can you prepare land for new vines or orchards?
Yes. We clear vegetation, mulch scrub and regrowth, and arrange suitable stump and root work where the planting plan calls for it. General earthworks, grading and planting itself are not included.
Do you mulch prunings and regrowth?
Yes. Prunings, unwanted woody growth and cleared vegetation can be mulched on-site where suitable, with the finish agreed before work starts.
Do you offer regular maintenance?
Yes. Repeat visits planned around the season, scoped in writing.
Do you spray weeds as well?
Not yet. Commercial weed spraying needs a Commercial Operator Licence (COL) from Agriculture Victoria and Ironbark is arranging it now — spraying starts once the licence is in hand. Mechanical clearing and slashing are available today, and chemical follow-up can be arranged with a licensed contractor in the meantime.
